The year 2025 marks the 24th anniversary of the birth of LTD-Leadership Through Drama.  LTD began in 2001 working with the PTA to create a program to provide performing arts opportunities for young students.  It was incorporated in 2002 as a non-profit organization with the State of Iowa.  Since then, LTD has provided various after school programs for youths including Kids Take the Stage, Movie Making classes, mime and music programs in Mills County, Montgomery County and Pottawattamie County in Iowa as well as Douglas County in Nebraska.

There has been a lot of change in our culture over the past 24 years and more and more families now have two working parents to make ends meet.  This has had a drastic effect on LTD’s people resources which has made it difficult to be able to provide the Kids Take the Stage program.  If one person is not available, the program can’t be done.

We are looking for theater and non-theater people who would be willing to work with third through fifth grade students one day a week for approximately 11 weeks on the Kids Take the Stage program.  We really need people who can be there to work with the children on learning songs and their parts for the Fall Show.  We also need people to help with costuming and assisting during the performance.  The program is normally done in the Fall between September and November on Wednesday afternoons after school from 1:30 – 3:30 on early out days and 3:30 – 5 PM on regular out days.   The final week of the program is every day Monday-Wednesday with a performance on Thursday night.

You really don’t need any special skills.  The current LTD staff will work and guide you on what to do.

LTD is also 100% volunteer.

If you or family members have been involved or participated in LTD in the past and would like to see LTD continue to provide liberal arts programs and scholarships for upcoming generations, please let us know.  We are also looking for theater people who want to give back and work with young people in building a love for the theater.  High school students are also welcome as mentors.  This is also a great opportunity for retired people who want to give something back.
